Dr. García-Ruiz has spent 69 months in international research stays in Denmark, Chile, and the United States. Between completing his PhD (2014) and returning to academia (2020), he founded two agrotechnology companies: an R&D consultancy for the agricultural sector and an online platform providing farmers with crop maps based on satellite imagery. Since 2020, he has participated in 10 research projects (including H2020) and published 16 papers in JCR-indexed journals. He has served as a consultant for the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi since 2019, collaborating on various projects to implement remote sensing for soil mapping and contaminant detection. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Col·legi Oficial d'Enginyers Agrònoms de Catalunya.
