Research seminar "Forest resilience to disturbances: influencing factors and management strategies". Speaker: Teresa Valor Ivars.

09/12/2024

Wednesday 11 December, at 11,30h. Activity scheduled as part of EEABB cultural hour. Free access.

Teresa Valor holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València and a PhD in Terrestrial Ecology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She joined the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology (DEAB, UPC) as a lecturer in september 2024 and teaches at the EEABB in the Landscape Architecture Bachelor's degree. Previously, she worked as a researcher at the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia and the University of Lleida. Her research focuses on forest resilience, investigating how trees respond to disturbances such as wildfires, bark beetles, and drought using methodologies like dendrochronology, isotopic analysis, and terpene quantification. Recently, she has expanded her work to explore how species interactions vary along environmental gradients. In the future, she aims to start a new line of research focused on urban ecology, with the aim of adapting urban green spaces to climate change.
